Book a Private Jet to Bergen Airport

Bergen Airport in Flesland is Norway’s second largest airport, serving both domestic and international destinations. On account of steadily rising passenger numbers, a new terminal was added in August 2017, increasing the airport’s capacity and offering the highest level of comfort.

Aviation History at Bergen Airport

Bergen’s airport boasts an eventful history, which began when Swedish aviation pioneer Carl Gustav Cederström put on a demonstration flight on 25 September 1911. The first scheduled flight service began in 1920, although not at the site of the current airport, rather at the water aerodrome established in the previous year. Once operations moved to a land airport at Flesland some decades later, it was first used by military aircraft. The first civilian flights from Bergen’s new airport finally began in 1955.

With the fall of the Soviet Union, military aviation diminished in importance and both scheduled and charter flights to and from Bergen became more frequent. Today, 23 different airlines serve Bergen Flesland Airport, including the Norwegian Air shuttle and Scandinavian Airlines (SAS). In addition, workers from oil platforms in the North Sea commute from Bergen Airport by helicopter.

Private Jet Hire: Bergen‘s Economic and Natural Landscapes

Bergen is one of the most important cities for Norwegian oil and gas exploration and extraction, which together with renewable energy and subsea technology make the energy sector a major source of jobs in the Bergen region. Not to be outdone by its economic significance, Bergen’s natural beauty – in particular its majestic fjords, mountains, and nature reserves make it a favourite for outdoor enthusiasts.

Bergen is Norway’s second largest city after Oslo and has numerous cultural and culinary highlights to tempt visitors. KODE Art Museums and Composer Homes feature works from world famous artists such as Edvard Munch among their 50,000 objects. Restaurants directly on the harbour offer freshly caught fish and seafood prepared by some of Norway’s best chefs. Bergen’s central location also makes it a popular connection point to and from various other Norwegian destinations such as:

  • Bergen ✈ Oslo (ENGM / OSL): approx. 50 minutes
  • Bergen ✈ Notodden (ENNO / NTB): approx. 45 minutes
  • Bergen ✈ Stavanger (EGZV / SVG): approx. 40 minutes
  • Bergen ✈ Ålesund (ENAL / AES): approx. 50 minutes
  • Bergen ✈ Haugesund (ENHD / HAU): approx. 40 minutes

All of the major Norwegian cities are less than an hour flight by private jet from Bergen, with Oslo and Ålesund both 50 minutes away and Stavanger only 40 minutes. Because your itinerary can be arranged with JetApp according to your schedule, stopovers in any of these cities are easy to accommodate.

Amenities at Bergen (BGO) Airport

As the country's second largest airport, Bergen Airport generates about 10 percent of Norway’s international air traffic, with some 6,000,000 passengers annually. The opening of its new, modern terminal in August 2017 expanded the number of gates from 9 to 15, which now makes it possible for the airport to receive 7,500,000 passengers on inbound flights to Bergen or outbound flights elsewhere.

The airport offers a wealth of services and amenities for passengers who travel by charter flight from Bergen – for example, private transfer from the terminal to your private jet. Bergen Airport’s partner companies look after your comfort, from limousine transfer directly from your business flight into the city, to catering or concierge service. The service team’s focus is to offer you an unrivalled travel experience.

Chartering a Private Jet to Bergen – Environmental Considerations

Bergen Airport aims to minimise the environmental impact of flying by offering private aircraft that can operate on biofuels, thus reducing greenhouse emissions. At your request, your Bergen flight can use a kerosene alternative as fuel, which is not only a friendlier option for the environment, but also supports local biofuel producers.
