Book a Private Jet to Rennes Airport

Rennes Airport serves as an important destination not only for flights to Rennes itself, but also to the surrounding industrial areas in the northwest of France and the charming coastal towns of Brittany. The airport offers first-class services to private jet and VIP passengers.

History of Rennes Saint Jacques Airport

In the winter months of 1931, construction began on an airport in the municipality of Saint-Jacques-de-la-Lande, southwest of the charming city of Rennes. After nearly two years of construction, Rennes Airport was opened by Pierre Cot, then Minister for Aviation, in July 1933. Shortly after the Battle of France in 1940, German troops occupied Rennes and assumed control of the airport. The airport remained in German hands until 1944 when the US military liberated the town. The US Air Force flew many bombing runs out of Rennes Airport in the final stages of the Second World War. It was not until 1946 that the airport reopened to civilian air traffic. The French Air Force, however, continued to use Rennes Saint Jacques Airport for military purposes for some years after the war’s conclusion.

In 1953, new terminals were opened and the first regular service for passenger aircraft was launched, followed by an air freight connection to Paris in 1961. In 2014, a modernisation programme was carried out, focussed in particular on the airport’s arrivals hall, flight gates, shopping areas, and restaurants.
